Who cares, what difference does it make?
Completing my speaking topic to women in church leadership, I collected their written responses. Women had jotted down descriptive words of the needs of their heart. With sadness, I prayed silently for the woman who had written, Who cares, what difference does it make? Tucking her answer away I gathered the rest.
As I drove home, I recalled the women’s faces. One face stood out and it wasn’t the beauty, but the volume of sadness and despair written on her countenance. Maybe, the note belonged to her. If so, my heart was knit to a kindred sister.
Brent Curtis and John Eldredge state in Sacred Romance, “to lose hope has the same effect on our heart as it would be to stop breathing.” The woman I recall was about to drop out of life. Have you ever been that close to being a drop-out? From life? I have.
Her heart shaped note is posted in my office. I write for and pray for women like the one who wrote it. I believe many other women are asking, “Who cares, what difference does it make?”
My response to her question, Jesus cares. Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you and me. He cares, Jesus cares.
Women get stuck in the feelings of hopelessness and despair, creating anxiety. Whatever the issue, God desires His care to outweigh her anxiety.
I choose to believe, He cares. I know He cares. You see, I too could have written that same note years ago, Who cares, what difference does it make? Living in a painful existence in the house on the hill only Jesus saw behind every door of my home. I chose to cast my anxieties onto Him, the truth, Jesus cares.
- Name one area of your life you are anxious about.
- Will you choose to cast that anxiety upon Jesus?
- Jesus cares, name where that is evident in your life today.
Casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. I Peter 5:7 NASB
